Outdoor living

The rooms outside the house: somewhere to eat, somewhere to sit late, somewhere to look at.

Terraces in natural stone, porcelain or brick. Decking, pergolas and garden buildings. Lighting that makes the garden usable after dark and water that you can hear from the terrace. Each one placed for the sun and the view, and detailed so it ties back to the house.

How we approach it

  1. 01

    Size it for people

A dining terrace for eight needs more room than most people think. We mark it out on site before anything is ordered.

  2. 02

    Match the house

Stone, brick and timber chosen to sit with the building, its era and its colour, not against it.

  3. 03

Light it last, plan it first

Cables and transformers go in with the groundworks, so the lighting scheme is never an afterthought.

Questions we're often asked

Do I need planning permission for a garden room?

Often not, but it depends on size, height, position and whether the house is listed or in a conservation area. We check this at the design stage.

Porcelain or natural stone?

Both have a place. We will show you samples of both on your own site, in your own light.

Start with a walk round the garden.

We will visit, look at the site with you and talk through what is possible. There is no charge for the first visit.
